Danube Dragons - Prague Panthers 33:16

Vienna, April 2nd, 2011. Exactly like last year, Prague Panthers failed in 1st round of European Football League – EFL, after 33:16 loss to Danube Dragons. Dragons will face defending EFL champions Berlin Adler in the next round.

Dragons started better on SV Stadlau Vienna with over 1500 spectators, when Martin Wunderer made field goal. Panthers tied the score in 2nd Q., with Gabor Sviatko’s field goal from 39 yards. But the Dragons took advantage with another field goal and Thomas Haider’s  TD pass to Jimmie Russell. PAT was not good so the score was 12:3 at halftime.

Panthers defense improved their performance in 2nd half and was keeping Dragons QB Haider in permanent pressure. However, it wasn’t enough as Dragons added another TD by Sean Fullerton. Panthers answered with Martin Šindler’s TD after McManus’ pass. 2pt conversion wasn’t good and score was 19:9 for Dragons.

In early 4th Q. Russell scored for the 2nd time in the game, PAT OK. Few moments later Panthers reduced the difference, with Martin Šindler’s 2nd TD in the game to set the score to 26:16. Panthers tried onside kick, but didn’t get the ball and Dragons ensured their victory by Sean Fullerton…

Season continues next Saturday in Prague, where will Panthers host Swarco Raiders Tirol…
