History rewritten, Havířov defeated

Havířov was bigger and stronger and played tough football as always, but Panthers won the game 36:43 after dramatic finish.

Devils played their traditional tough football, but young panthers weren’t scared and took the lead in the first drive. 3rd play of the game, QB #7 Standa Tománek opened the score by 61y run (kick blocked). Panthers D held back Devils offense and in the next drive QB #7 Standa Tománek threw a 51y pass to WR #80 Ladislav Nábělek to increase the lead to 12:0!!!  2 point conversion was good, 2y run by RB Jan Sýkora. Panthers 14 – Devils 0!!! On the next possession, Devils were intercepted by LB #51 Libor Boucký and Panthers offense got good field position for their drive. Few plays later Panthers scored another touchdown. RB #45 Tomáš Kočka found the end zone by 3y run. Kick was good and score was 21:0 after 1.q…

In the 2nd q. Devils put first points on the board after 20y reverse pass, the score was 21:6.

However, in the next drive, unstoppable QB  #7 Standa Tománek threw another long pass to WR  #88 Matěj Vejtruba – 27:6. Devils tried to score a field goal before halftime, but the kick was blocked and LB #51 Libor Boucký returned the ball for a touchdown to set the score to 33:6 in the first half .

In the 2nd half Devils proved their quality and scored from almost every drive. Combination of powerful runs and short quick passes made big troubles to our defense. Panthers offense answered by RB #45 Tomas Kočka and later in the game scored a FG by Jakub Woleský.

The final score stopped on 43:36 for Panthers.

Young Panthers showed their best performance this season.

Next game is against Brno Alligators on Sunday 10.10.2010 and key game of regular season against Prague Lions is one week later.
