Prague Panthers won in the weekend's battle of the beasts when they defeated their city rivals the Prague Lions 16:14. However, even this win does not guarantee them the victory of base part of CJLAF which would advance them directly to a final game and now the Panthers have to wait up for the next round's results between Devils and Lions.
QB #7 Standa Tománek.
It was very exciting game for the audience when juniors on both sides showed up how to fight till the end. Moreover, the words that have been said before the game have been proven true. First off Lions failed to stop big plays of Panthers jrs - at the end of halftime, QB Standa Tomanek threw an awesome 42 yards pass to a WR Matej Vejtruba and especially, an amazing 83yds run by RB Honza Sýkora from the second half. Panthers' defense filled with lots of rookies has showed up in much brighter light then in a previous mutual game and overall has five times successfully resisted the Lions' offense on 4th&inches, respectively even few times close to the Panthers' endzone.
The rising star of Prague Panthers: RB #32 Jan Sýkora.
„The defense was great and excellent, there is no doubt about that. But unfortunately offense has made a few mistakes, those that came in the most dramatic moments which cost us the lose of football. On the other side I think that when you fumble three times, throw one interception and you still get to win, that's only proving the team spirit we have.“ commented David Krejbich, president of Prague Panthers.
Defense coordinator of Prague Panthers Jan Sestak added up: „It's an awesome feeling to beat Lions again after the four games and to rule Prague again but we did not approach our main goal, to win at least by 8pts. So now we have to wait up for the Havirov – Lions game and make a big fans support for Havirov.“
Our next rival is Brno Alligators (30.10. Away). The Alligators aren't having the best season this fall and as coaches said, the upcoming game is only gonna be a preparation for the semifinal or final game.
